Freshwater Mussels of Angola
Species Diversity. Twenty-three species of freshwater mussels in three families occur in the Angola Region. The family Etheriidae is represented by a single, widespread species. Links for specimen records and synonymies query the MUSSEL Project Database.

Distribution. — Widespread; distributed in Madagascar and tropical Africa, including the Nile, West Africa and the Congo Basin, excluding Lake Tanganyika. Reported in Angola from both the Cuanza and lower Cunene basins, and the Cuango (Cassai).
